Twas the night before camp, when all through my house.
Not a creature was stirring, not even the mouse.
The bag was all packed by my bed with most care.
In case that tomorrow I have no time to spare.
Me and my brother were all snug in my bed.
While visions of Deer Park ran through my head.
And mamma in her nighties, and I in my pants.
Had just settled our brains for a long dreamy night.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up my mash. The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature bus, and eight of my friends that are most dear.

With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be Mr Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!

“Now Lauren! now, Christina! now, Eleanor and Jessica!
On, Kasey! On, Amy! on, Rachel and Layla!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!”
